Calabria is a land where miracles don’t happen but are expected to: that explains the strong religious atmosphere enveloping the whole region but, at the same time, also the sort of apathy hitting everyone, young people as well as senior citizens while they wait, for instance, for jobs – the Government should provide them. Miracles here are based on ancient beliefs where sacred (religion) and profane (politics) mix continuously, with no Italian miracle as a result, though. This is not a place for miracles, then: it’s still waiting for them.
