Statement

I left Tuscany when I was nineteen. I can’t say I love it. In my opinion, Tuscany has always been too rich and magnificent and happy to really care about the rest of the world. There is not a real tradition of outbound immigration because people never felt the need to leave (yes dad, I know it’s a blessing and not a curse). Lucky them. I somehow felt and followed this need and those who stayed have never really forgiven me for leaving. Now that I’m older I use to go back more often, to stick with some people and places I love. It’s an ambivalent relationship.
